my cool school
the display in our lobby. each piece shows a photo of the dress on the runway, the sketch of the dress and the work of art that inspired that dress. really neat.

too much coffee!
this is what happens when i drink coffee in color theory class every tuesday. it happens every time and i still drink it at the beginning of each class. i even started drinking half a cup instead of a whole cup. not a big change. i need the coffee to get through class and but it dosen't wear off very fast. eric just came over for a bit and i'm pretty sure i talked his ear off. so it's 11:30, i'm exhausted in my eyelids but my mind is just buzzing and i'm still slightly jittery. so i'm sitting here putting things in my idea book, cleaning, looking at wedding photos, finding phil collins songs i haven't heard before and generally just letting my mind get all it's energy out. i've got class at 8:30. it's gonna be real fun gettting up in the morning:)

read it. i know you'll love it.
i don't completely understand everything this poem is saying. The parts i do understand however, go straight to my heart. It so resonates with me now. My mom read this poem to us over and over when i was little and it sounded like nothing but a beautiful string of syllables and strange words. My mother seemed to love it so i loved it too. Now i'm 20 and it's more than syllables and strange, large words. it's life.! it's my life. and what an intricate, beautiful, cruel and puzzling life it is.
If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think -and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same; If you can bear the truth you've spoken Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on";
If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings - nor lose the common touch;
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run -
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man my son!

the long awaited..
words by neil young.
i liked the sediment in his song alot. I like the idea that people always need people. i like the idea of connecting people years apart and seeing them as just like yourself. our old men were young once and they needed someone to love them just as much as we do now. that's why i included vintage photographs and modern ones; showing how things haven't changed a whole lot. we still need to be loved and cared for personally and intimately.
i don't think my message was very clear because i got a B+. My teacher wrote: "confusing. does the old man get someone to love him?" and then i got confused that she was confused. oh well. i'll take a B.
